Abstract

Study Protocol and Survey Invitation - This preprint outlines our research protocol investigating whether Bitcoin investment triggers measurable behavioral changes from consumer-oriented to saver-oriented mindsets—a phenomenon widely discussed in cryptocurrency communities but lacking empirical academic investigation. We are actively recruiting Bitcoin investors globally to participate in our comprehensive survey examining changes in spending habits, financial behaviors, and consumption patterns. The survey takes 10-15 minutes and maintains complete participant anonymity. Cross-sectional survey with retrospective behavioral assessment targeting Bitcoin investors with minimum 6-month investment history. We seek n=400 participants across diverse demographics through cryptocurrency forums, social media, and academic networks. Once we reach our target sample size of 400 responses, we will proceed to statistical analysis phase, examining correlations between Bitcoin investment variables (duration, allocation percentage) and behavioral change measures (saving rates, frugality, spending patterns, time preferences). This registered report approach ensures methodological transparency and prevents post-hoc hypothesis generation. The study addresses a significant gap in behavioral finance literature and will provide the first systematic empirical investigation of the "hard money mindset" hypothesis. Bitcoin investors aged 18+ with 6+ months experience are invited to participate via survey link in document.
