Excerpt: Between July 6th and 10th, 2026, in Bogotá, Colombia, the International Association of Constitutional Law (IACL) will hold its next World Congress of Constitutional Law (WCCL).... The chosen theme for this major gathering of constitutionalists—senior and junior scholars, enthusiasts, and interested parties—inevitably addresses the unprecedented uncertainty facing constitutional law. Many of its values, carefully cultivated over time within the cultures of countries organized as rule-of-law states, are being seriously questioned for multiple interconnected reasons: persistent disregard, failure to deliver on promised outcomes, or inability to resolve current problems and crises. Constitutionalism is losing importance for electorates and authorities alike, and its legal framework may not be compatible with the current knowledge requirements and urgent imperatives posed by immense natural phenomena and technological powers. This situation, already widely known and debated by academia and the public in many countries, will be approached through three core ideas that inform the theme and methodology of the WCCL 2026, identified by its title: “Sustainable Constitutionalism: Answers for a Changing World."
