Despite its ubiquity, pain remains poorly understood and documented in infants, children, and adolescents, especially in low-income countries. Such pain can be the symptom of long-term subclinical conditions such as systematic chronic inflammation (SCI). With regard to low-income countries, SCI is often related to, among others, malnutrition.
