Abstract

Cognitive stimulation and/or rehabilitation activities for the elderly are generally carried out through face-to-face workshops, however during the covid-19 pandemic, with social isolation, activities and consultations became remote, in order to continue the assistance, mainly to the elderly, who are the population most at risk for the disease. The aim of this study is to analyze remote cognitive stimulation and/or telerehabilitation activities in the elderly as an intervention during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a systematic review study, conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA - Statement) methodology. Among the main results, the feasibility and acceptance of remote cognitive stimulation activities with the use of technologies during the pandemic is highlighted, reflecting on future and expanded use for different realities and cultures. Studies also point to the stabilization and improvement of the cognitive state, depressive and anxious feelings and the maintenance of the independence of these participants with an increase in the scores of the applied scales before and after the interventions. The reinvention of techniques that aim to stimulate and rehabilitate the cognitive health of the elderly, such as the use of technologies as a strategy to replace or supplement face-to-face activities, promotes the cognitive and mental health and independence of the elderly.
