This pre-clinical research paper investigates the potential for radiotherapy (RT) to induce systemic anti-tumour immune responses in paediatric cancers, which are often immunologically inert. Drawing from pre-clinical studies, it explores how RT may initiate immunogenic cell death (ICD), enhance tumour antigen presentation, and synergise with immunotherapies such as immune checkpoint inhibitors. The work synthesises emerging mechanistic insights into RT-induced immune modulation, focusing on tumour microenvironment changes and signalling pathways involved in immune activation.
