The comments given in this paper are no way intended to conflict with the recommendations or regulations of these authorities, and wherever such conflict exist their regulations must naturally govern. There is a need, however, for information on individual sewage disposal systems and it is hoped that the contents of this paper will supplement the information available from various other sources and provide an appreciation of what a septic tank will or will not do.
