The territorial dimension, little explored until now in Ecophyto, is sometimes essential for improving the effectiveness of alternative levers for controlling pests and reducing the use of plant protection products. It was on this basis that the call for projects on territorial levers was conceived, designed and implemented. The summary of this call underlines the relevance of working on a territorial scale, and the fact that the choice to use pesticides is not just a concern for farmers. The need for consultation and coordination between stakeholders requires dedicated forums, and all the projects share the observation that these are lacking. An essential link is therefore missing, but this raises the question of the legitimacy of the carrier. In what follows, we propose a typology based on the degree of territorial integration to qualify the actions undertaken. Territorial integration refers to the ability of local stakeholders to cooperate around a common vision, despite their diverse interests. It manifests itself in solid networks of relationships, shared governance and a strong sense of belonging. In the agricultural sector, this means reconciling individual and collective interests, while strengthening the area's resilience in the face of new challenges. This provides a useful framework for assessing the progress made in the projects, as well as the avenues still to be explored. At this stage, the majority of projects are still struggling to demonstrate that the levers studied benefit from a synergistic effect, so that their effectiveness increases with the rate of adoption. However, the choice of agroecology for agriculture is based on this implicit assumption, which has yet to be quantified.
