Abstract

The goal in this work is the comparison of five parameterisations of the\nSachs form factors of the proton GpE (electric) and GpM (magnetic) at\nlow 4-momentum transfer Q2. It will be shown that a simple model, based on\ntwo dipoles which admit as parameters the rms electric charge radius rE;p\nand the rms magnetic radius rM;p of the proton, suffices for the purposes\nof the phase-shift analyses (PSAs) of the low-energy pion-nucleon (\π N)\ndata. The replacement of the electromagnetic form factors, currently used in\nthe ETH model of the \π N interaction, by the parameterisation of this work\nwill enable the removal from the PSAs of this research programme of the largest\npart of the dependence on extraneous sources.\n
